A Piece of My Heart

Where to begin. . . These past two weeks have been such an amazing time and blessing! Since we´ve been to Iquitos, God has just been pouring out HIS amazing love and blessings non-stop. This past week since we´ve been doing prison ministry and today was our official last day of working with them. I participated in both the men´s prison ministry and women´s and I found out to be such a HUGE blessing. I met this man named Max(imo) my first day working in the prison who has such a hunger and thirst for the Lord that he can´t wait until he leaves the prison so that he can serve the Lord without limitations. He blew me away with his faith and outpouring of love for our Savior. He was so zealous that sometimes it really challenged me. I was able to share with him the story of when God sent Paul into the prison to bring HIS glory into that place. I shared with Maximo that he doesn´t need to wait until he leaves the prison to serve our Lord when he can do it right where he is. He is a great man and I will miss him so much. I had a similar experience with a woman in the women´s prison. Her name is Miguelina and she is an amazing woman who blessed and touched my heart deeply. God has definitely surprised me by how much HE has touched my heart through these prisoners just as much if not more than they think I´ve been a blessing to them. Today was bittersweet. We said our goodbyes and shared some tears, but we were also joyful in the Lord for HIS love, grace, endless mercy and undeniable amazingness (sorry, I couldn´t find a better word). We had a great amount of prisoners from both the men´s and women´s side come to salvation, praise God! Some of them were set free from bondage not just spiritually and mentally, but also physically. Miguelina, who I mentioned earlier, just shared great news with me a day ago that her papers have been approved and she is due to be released soon! She was supposed to be in prison for another nine years (she´s already been there for seven). How amazing is our God?! He truly answers prayers! I was so blessed to meet so many of these men and women and seeing some of them come to know our Savior and others being greatly blessed by our presence. It has definitely been a humbling experience and I know there´s so much more to come. This isn´t even half of what God´s been doing in this place!

Tuesday we leave Iquitos and head over to Requena where we will embark on a 18 hour boat ride experience through the Amazon visiting villages and walking where the Holy Spirit leads us. From here on out, no comunication from me personally will be established until the day I return. I am super excited to start this new adventure and ready to face it head on in God´s power! Eph. 6:10-18 has been my prayer every morning as I prepare to go into places of the unknown. I love Peru and it has become a part of my heart and it reaffirms my willing spirit to GO, just GO wherever God leads me. I am in complete abandonment and my life is now fully in the Lord´s hands. I thankfully have people on my team who are in the same spirit and together we are strong and hold eachother accountable. I couldn´t have asked for a better team. I love the LORD and how far HE has brought me. See you guys in a month and a half! I miss you all back home and can´t wait to reconnect with you again soon, however, if the Lord calls me stay here in Peru I wouldn´t mind 🙂 Albeit, I don´t think my mother would be too fond of that. Speaking of my mother — a huge shout out to her: Happy [early] Birthday!!! I love you and miss you so much. I know you´re very proud of me and even though it hurts you in a sense that I am so far away from you (I know I´m the ¨baby¨), I want to thank you for being very supportive of my walk with the Lord! Words will never be able to explain the love I have for you. I miss you and see you soon.

In HIS great love,

Sharon Alethia
