Hello again everyone! I love it here in Iquitos! I love listening to the rain, which is somehow alot louder here than at home. It puts a whole new meaning to the song lyric "It's the song of the forgiven, drowning out the amazon rain." There are so many stories I wish I could tell you, like when three of us girls got lost in Iquitos for a while and had to find our way back from memory, or riding on the back of a moped balancing groceries through the caos of these streets, or making my way through the market looking for a hammock. I could never have time to tell them all!
I will tell you one story though, of how God has shown himself and his amazing power. Our team went to a leadership class a couple nights ago and spent some time talking and praying with the students there. I talked to a young man about my age named César for quite a while. He eventually told me that he had blown out his knee playing soccer and asked if I would pray over it. I prayed with him for a bit, that the Lord would bring him healing, and afterward he said that it felt better and he could bend it more. I felt as though God had more to do here and asked a couple team mates, Brittany and Matt if they would come over and pray with us again. We asked him to sit and the three of us prayed over him. When we were done, we encouraged him to stand, and César got to his feet. He began walking around and kicking his leg back and forth, and told us that is was much better. We later learned that before this, he couldn´t walk very well and if he sat he would have a very hard time getting back up. Now this was a huge difference for him! Thank You Lord for your amazing power! Thank you for the healing you bring! I hope and pray that God will continue to use us as tools to further his kingdom, and bring more glory to his name!
We are leaving on a boat to go into the jungle tomorrow. I am so excited; I know we all are! Once we head down the river, I don`t know how often we will have internet, but stay posted and I will blog when I can. I hear that the turantulas are really bad this time of year, so please pray that the Lord will give me courage, along with my other prayer requests. If the Lord has taught me anything so far, it's the power of prayer! Thank you all so much for your love, prayers, and support, and feel free to leave a comment!
