I love my family!

What a family in Christ I have here in Peru! They are such a blessing, each one of them. If even one of them wasn’t here, our whole group dynamic would be drastically different! I am so thankful for each of them and that all of us would get to cross paths and live life together. How awesome is the community we find in our Savior! All of the boys, Grant, Josh, Eoghan, and Patrick, they are wonderful brothers to all of us ladies. They take such good care of us and are truly servants. How refreshing it is to be surrounded by these godly young men! And the ladies, all twelve of us, work...

Dirty Work

Spreading God´s word can be dirty work. Literally. Last thursday night we had the opportunity to do some outreach at what was basically a village attached to the edge of the city of Iquitos. This community, though only a few hundred feet away from the bustling city life, is dramatically different from what we´ve seen so far. These people live in houses that are raised about 20 feet off the ground because thats about how high the river gets during rainy season. The ground is all mud, dirt, trash, and in some places other unpleasant things…. We did some Spanish and English...

“Don’t forget us”

This past week in Iquitos has been AWESOME! Our team has been working at a men´s prison, a women´s prison, and working with youth from a local church. My time at the women´s prison has affected me the most! The women in the prison are so gentle and fun! They are hungry for love and I´m glad that over the past week, our team has been able to pour love into their lives. I was even able to share my testimony with them. I thought it would be hard…since I don´t like public speaking… 🙂 but something I´ve been learning is that it´s really not about me. Yes, my testimony display...

Always Enough.

This feels like home.  Like I was born to live this life, in this culture, or maybe just with these people, or maybe just this way.  I love Iquitos, and as we prepare to leave for the jungle it will be hard to say goodbye. Hard to say goodbye the the motorcars that never stop moving, even at 3am.  Hard to leave the woman’s prison where I watched a guard play volleyball with the prisoners and even return on her days off to hear the Word of God.  Hard to leave Eleana, from the youth group and the freedom and growth she’s been walking in this past week (though I...

The Monkey Bite

Hola.   Peru is amazing! Amazing. I love everything about this place. The city is wonderful and so are the people. We have had so much fun. Riding around in motokars and laughing as we run though 7 red lights and drive on the wrong side of the road. We have got to sleep out on the roof under the stars. I Held a snake, and I got bit by a monkey, but don´t worry I´m alive. We got to go to the zoo and play soccer with some of the friends we made at the church and all of that has been amazing, but even more amazing then that is the ministry we have got to be a part of.   We have...

Everything

The theme lately seems to be “everything”. From how God is using me to how He is growing me, the theme of everything just keeps coming up.        One way that God has used me and others on the team so far is in a skit known as the Everything skit. The chorus of the song the skit is put to is “You´re all I want, You´re all I need, You´re everything. So how can I stand here with you and not be moved by you? Could you tell me how it could it be any better than this?”  It´s an amazing and intense representation of...
