Wow, what a difference there is between here and our country! Of course there are the regular differences, such as culture, traditions, physical lay of the land, etc. But man, it is HOT! The people are really nice, the markets are just like TV, the river is massive, fuits are exotic, motokars are fun, climate is a sauna, food is delicious, the team is amazing, and God is infintely better than all that. We´ve been doing ministry in the prison since Sunday, and I can see a strong desire to know God more in many of the prisoners. Greetings! I think the warm weather is starting to get to my head….. but in a good way! Iquitos is an exciting city with lots of noise and hustlers. Yes hustlers….. they are about 7 years old and always put a smile on your face and warm your heart…. and they know this. These little kids survive off selling items such as bracelets and t-shirts on the streets. Tourists are their main target, and they definitely known how to make the soles(Peruvian money) flow out of your pocket. So all of us men on the trip are stoked because we are going to be able to let out our inner barbarians it seems. We are growing out our facial hair, hacking through the bush with machetes, and beating our chests in the face of every challenge! The manliest of these adventures: Cayman hunting Yes, we may hunt small crocodiles in the Amazon rainforest with the tribes we meet! Could it be any manlier? Of course! Hola from Iquitos! We´ve only been here for a week, and already God is doing amazing things, and our team has become a family. With random dancing, camu camu ice cream, lots of late night mn hang outs, and eating suri (a giant grub that tastes slightly like chicken), the trip has been full of exciting adventures so far and we have had lots of time to bond and get to know each other. God has given me more Joy over the past week than I have had in my entire life! It is a different kind of joy too, not one that is there when I am excited, but also there when I am alone with God and the world is quiet! I mentioned in my last post that I was going to expect big things from God, but honestly, He has constantly proven to me that He wants to give me more than I could even ask for!
