Expecting the unexpected…

…sometimes just doesn´t  cut  it. Every so often there is something that happens that goes beyond that and catches you off guard. Yesterday we got on a large boat expecting to be on it for a day and a half with our supplies to go to a village down the river for ministry. Knowing Peru we weren´t surprised when the boat was still at the dock 3 hours after it was supposed to leave. However. The unexpected struck when we learned that the boat had been delayed for 24 hours! Woah! Not only that but the boat was so much more crowded than we thought! Despite these...

You are Peruvian now!

You are Peruvian now! A comment made by my brother Johnny when we were all playing soccer. What does that mean? This team was welcomed into Peru with open arms. We are already changing lives and God is blessing us and changing our lives. The fact that my Peruvian brother says that I am Peruvian now tells me that we are one. We are all one in Christ. It doesn´t matter if you´re from America, Peru, Nicaragua, Honduras, or anywhere else. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. As my friend Juan told me yesterday "I am coffee, you are milk" (referring to skin color) we...

Writing on God´s Heart 1

Night before last our team got to go to el colegio (school) that is Christian based. The speaker did his thing and then requested someone give their testimony. I did! Up till this point I have been sitting back and well i am not sure why. This time felt right. I stumbled and got tongue twisted but I pray that my inspiration of acceptance and that it is I who creates who I am and who I will be, touched someones heart. No matter anyones judgement or assesments. Our past does not make our desisions for our future or the choices we make, that create who we are or who we can be!! ...

You eat food with such….Passion.

We have only been here for….so many days, I don´t even know and God has done so many things through us. As we do our best to bless others, he blesses us through them. Only they have so little and are so anxious to bless us, it is amazing. We went to the prison for the last time the other day, I connected with this lady and began to talk to her with what I could say, which wasnt much, but she didnt care, she was just glad to have a friend. It felt so good, despite the language barrier we talked, she was 34, has 2 girls, one was 2...

Wake Up Sherry!

If anyone has ever been bored out of your mind, the natural thing is to find something to do. Well, for my team, everytime we are bored we play the game ¨¨Mafia¨¨. You know you have nothing else to do when you sit down for a game that takes HOURS to play. We sat down to play the other night and our AMAZING translator Cesar was the narrator. Well one of the lines he has to say is ´´Sheriff wake up´ In spanish, the double f sounds like ie so when he would say his line it would come out as ¨´Sherry wake up´´ We laughed so hard all...

Off to the jungle!

The last couple days have been busy and a lot of fun. Friday, we went to the prison again and played soccer with the men after a very emotional prayer session. All these men were super happy to see us and welcomed us with open arms. The older men were all outside working with tools and crafting pictures and furniture out of wood while the younger men were inside just sitting around or making objects out of rolled newspaper. Then in the afternoon, half of our team went to a neighborhood in the second poorest district in Iquitos. As we walked down the muddy "street," we passed...
