And Glory Came Down

I told my team yesterday, our third day together, that this was not what I expected; they were not what I expected.   I expected change in them, but not instant transformation.  I expected participants that wanted to do good things, but who were not ready to bring the fire and kingdom of God here to the earth.  I didn’t expect them to choose into this, this community, this calling, their daughtership and sonship so readily.  And so I repent of false expectations.  Because I’ve seen God’s glory come down the past three days and I have...

The Beginning

I was so excited when i found out i  got to write to you guys! God has already moved in me so much, and some of the team feel like family already. On our first night we met a homeless man named Clark who was a major inspiration to me because he was handing out PB&J’s to other homeless people. He proved that you can always be doing Gods work no matter your situation. I encourage my friends and family to read my whole teams blog looking for pictures and to encourage them as well, We won’t be able to update very often so please find the time to leave me and my new family...

Wrecked For the Ordinary

After I heard these words I couldn’t stop thinking about them. They brought me joy, but also put things into perspective. When I heard “you will not longer be the same at the end of this two months, but you will be wrecked for the ordinary” so many things went through my head. How am I going to  be wrecked for the ordinary? What even is ordinary? What does this require of me? What does this mean? I couldn’t stop thinking about this simple but powerful statement, but it’s already proving to be true.  Over the past 4 days of training, I can already see...

A challenge

Today is our last day of training in Gainsville, Georgia, and I am super excited to leave for Peru tomorrow! The past two days have already been filled with team bonding, exciting activities, and lots of great food, and I am positive that it will only get better from here. The coolest part of all of the excitement and activity, however, is that it has exceeded my expectations in a way that I never could have imagined, and has taught me a lot both about myself and those I will be working with while in Peru.    On the first day of training, after arriving at the airport, ...

Growing Up

Hey Guys! So these last few days of training have been incredible! We have been so busy and it has been so fulfilling! The team went throughout Atlanta ministering to people in the streets on the first day! Our team has really come together and bonded quickly. People have opened up about things that they were uncomfortable sharing and have been able to shake away things that have been plaguing them. I have personally grown so much already. When I left home for this trip I was carrying a ton of baggage. I was telling myself that I had no worth, that I could be of no use to God and that...

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Three days ago I stepped out of my parents’ embrace and onto a plane taking me to Georgia to prepare to go to Peru. And let me tell you, boy was it a big step of faith. I don’t think I’ve ever been more nervous or scared or anxious before in my life. But then God did a funny thing. After I had settled into my seat on the plane, a girl about my age sat down next to me. I had seen her and another girl boarding the plane, and her friend had a rather large backpack with her. So when she sat down I asked if they were going camping and where they were going. Her response was,...
