Dirty Work

Spreading God´s word can be dirty work. Literally. Last thursday night we had the opportunity to do some outreach at what was basically a village attached to the edge of the city of Iquitos. This community, though only a few hundred feet away from the bustling city life, is dramatically different from what we´ve seen so far. These people live in houses that are raised about 20 feet off the ground because thats about how high the river gets during rainy season. The ground is all mud, dirt, trash, and in some places other unpleasant things…. We did some Spanish and English...

“Don’t forget us”

This past week in Iquitos has been AWESOME! Our team has been working at a men´s prison, a women´s prison, and working with youth from a local church. My time at the women´s prison has affected me the most! The women in the prison are so gentle and fun! They are hungry for love and I´m glad that over the past week, our team has been able to pour love into their lives. I was even able to share my testimony with them. I thought it would be hard…since I don´t like public speaking… 🙂 but something I´ve been learning is that it´s really not about me. Yes, my testimony display...

Through the eyes of a prisoner.

Here comes the American, so strong and free, she really has no idea what it is like to be me. I am stuck here in the darkness, no family no friends, if I had a choice I would put it to an end. I am sure she has no real problems or pain, no American has much more they can gain. She don’t know what it is like to be rejected, the bottom of scum… no, not where she is from. I will be quiet and watch for a while, I will pretend to be happy and put on a smile. She would not want to know about my past, if she finds out, our friendship wont last… She wouldn’t want to still be...

Where He leads

Good morning from Peru! Today is our last day in Iquitos before beginning the eighteen hour boat ride to Riquena, where we will stay for five days before traveling to other villages along the river. Although I am excited for everything that lies ahead, the bonds formed, lessons learned, and innumerable experiences that have happened here in Iquitos have been life changing have truly been life changing, and I know it will be difficult to leave. I feel like I could write five blogs a day about everything that has happened and it still would not cover everything, so...

Yay for the market!

Hey Everyone! So I am alive! I´m just not very good about getting on the internet… 🙂 I am officially a sign of God taking care of the team! In the market about a week ago, I was purchasing some vegetables for dinner in the evening, and i had my camera hanging on my wrist for a short moment. During that moment, A man grabbed my camera and broke the string, and proceeded to run down the alley with it! The man that we had just bought from looked at me, than at the man, then back at me… I just stood there with my mouth gaping open and kind of did this squeak that I think was...

This is how me and Carly decided I was going to handle the giant creepy crawly things in the jungle 🙂 Not that they won´t exsist jesus will just give me the strength to not freak out everytime! Today i bought an argentina soccer jersey- and went to my first soccer game probably ever. I don´t really know whatelse to say the idea of the next month is really intimidating so i am trying to take it one day at a time which seems to be working pretty well so far! We have had a lot of experiences i didn´t  expect for sure- Hey mom we went to a lake yesterday and almost everyone got...
