This was me and the teams experience the last few days in Nauta, esp. some of the guys who did most of the work. We ´mowed´the grass of the camp grounds that we were staying at, and mowing the grass means taking a machete and completly ridding the ground of any dirt. It was a difficult task and took three days worth of mornings maybe four, to clear the whole area. Cesar had never even heard of a lawn mower.
Lawn mowers are a luxury. And so is almost everything else we have in America.
Life is good here, I love it! Nauta was my favorite next to Florida, yes, we went to Florida! The children are so happy, its amazing. There s this one girl who lived on the campground part of the week every week, her name was Ruthy. She was the sweetest girl. Her parents were acholics and mistreated her, so the Pastor would pick her up and bring her to the camp. I was looking at Brent playing with her last night by the Bon-fire and thinking about her story, and I said that I felt sorry for her. She was laughing, and Brent says, ´´why? she´s so joyful.¨´
This got me thinking about something that I already knew, and already liked to talk about. JOY!!! I love joy, I love it when we have joy as Christians even in th hard times. We have hard times, yes, but I am guilty of this too…as Americans and CHristians, we often times go into the ´slummy´attidude, the ´my life is so horrible´thoughts. When, if you think about it this way, there are so many people out that with Joy, in situations 2 times worse. WE need joy 😀
I have met so many people that have enough reasons to be sad, but when I meet them they are so happy! They don´t come running to me, as an American to see what they can get (well some do..lol) but they are happy to give me what little they have..
They have little…but they give much..
Many of us have much (whether we realize it or not) but give little.
Some of us give none.
Giving is such a wonderful gift! Give yourself and you will gain so much. If you go on a missions trip and don´t give yourself you are not going to gain anything, at all.
Ah! It has been such a wonderful experience. I would do it all over again. I love Peru, I love life, I love people.
