Wake Up Sherry!

If anyone has ever been bored out of your mind, the natural thing is to find something to do. Well, for my team, everytime we are bored we play the game ¨¨Mafia¨¨. You know you have nothing else to do when you sit down for a game that takes HOURS to play. We sat down to play the other night and our AMAZING translator Cesar was the narrator. Well one of the lines he has to say is ´´Sheriff wake up´ In spanish, the double f sounds like ie so when he would say his line it would come out as ¨´Sherry wake up´´ We laughed so hard all evening!

This in itself taught me a lesson. Being in Peru and knowing little spanish is extremely difficult. Just lik e Cesar, I have said SO many things wrong! I told a random woman i loved her, ive accidentally said some harsh sentences to a few people, and i have even made up my own words. I was so discouraged with my spanish the other night i went ahead and told myself not to even try to learn. Jesus had other plans. Last night our team started singing to God and it turned into a 3 hour praise session. God grabbed my heart and let me see that it is totally fine to say things wrong. I started thinking about it and i realized that everytime i said something wrong or it was weird, the Peruvians were so patient and understanding. These are the people that I was suppose to be showing God´s love and compassion to, when in all actuality they are the ones blessing me.

It is so easy to let your mind think that you always have to have it together. Yet when you take a step back, you can always see that you have nothing together. Jesus is the only one who can hold my crazy life together. Whether that is getting me to Peru safely, attempting to speak Spanish, or holding my stomach while i eat street food-it is all God. With that being said, I have been so encouraged in so many different ways that I am at the point where i am so willing to do whatever God asks. Let me just say its a WONDERFUL place to be.

We leave for the jungle tomorrow so this will most likely be my last blog for about a month. I am so excited to see how God is going to work through the team in the next 7 weeks! Please continue to pray for us! God is molding our hearts to match his every single day! Lets just say I´m ready to wake Sherry up!
